About Crematoria.uk

Crematoria.uk was created with a simple aim: to make reliable information about UK crematoriums easier to find when people already have enough to think about.

Arranging a funeral often involves making important decisions within a short space of time. Families may need to know where a crematorium is, what its chapel is like, whether parking is available and how long services usually last. Finding those answers should not add to an already difficult experience.

That is why I am building Crematoria.uk: an independent and straightforward directory covering crematoriums throughout England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Experience within the funeral profession

My understanding of the funeral profession comes from first-hand experience.

I have worked at a crematorium operated by one of the UK’s largest crematorium operators. I have also worked alongside a highly regarded third-generation independent funeral director as a bearer, driver and on-call operative.

These roles have given me experience of both sides of the profession. They have also shown me how much careful organisation, compassion and attention to detail goes into supporting a family.

Most importantly, they help me understand the practical questions people may have before arranging or attending a funeral.

Crematoria.uk is an independent project that I continue to develop alongside my work. It is not operated by a crematorium company, local authority or funeral director.

Helping families find clear answers

Every crematorium is different. Chapels, service times, parking arrangements, accessibility and memorial options can vary considerably from one location to another.

Our guides bring together useful information about:

  • chapel facilities and capacity
  • service times and funeral arrangements
  • parking, toilets and accessibility
  • music, webcasts and visual tributes
  • gardens of remembrance
  • memorials and options for cremated remains
  • fees and practical costs
  • contact details and opening hours
  • frequently asked questions

I research each listing carefully and regularly add new information. Nevertheless, prices, facilities and policies can change. Families should always confirm important details with the crematorium or their funeral director before making arrangements.

Supporting local funeral directors

Choosing a crematorium is only one part of arranging a funeral. Many visitors will also need support from an experienced funeral director who knows the area and regularly conducts services at their chosen crematorium.

However, I do not want the directory to become crowded with competing advertisements. Instead, Crematoria.uk offers one exclusive featured funeral director position on each crematorium page.

Once a funeral director secures that position, another funeral director will not be advertised on the same page.

This gives families one clear and relevant local option. Meanwhile, the featured funeral home receives prominent visibility without appearing beside a long list of competitors.

A more focused alternative to Google Ads

Online advertising can become expensive, especially when several funeral directors compete for the same local search terms. Pay-per-click campaigns may also charge for visits from people making general enquiries or searching outside the funeral home’s normal service area.

A featured position on Crematoria.uk works differently.

It places a funeral director in front of people actively researching a specific crematorium in an area the business serves. The price remains fixed, and no competing funeral director appears alongside it.

Each exclusive position costs £75 plus VAT per crematorium page, per calendar month. There is no need to advertise throughout the entire directory. Funeral directors can simply select the individual crematorium pages most relevant to their business.

The position does not need to generate a high volume of enquiries to provide meaningful value. If it helps only one or two additional families discover and instruct a funeral home during the year, the resulting business could more than justify the cost. Regular visibility can also strengthen awareness of the funeral home within its local community.

Crematoria.uk now attracts many thousands of visitors each month, while many of our listings appear prominently in Google. Because each crematorium page has only one funeral director position available, opportunities are necessarily limited.

Interested in becoming a featured funeral director?

If you would like to check availability, please tell me which crematoriums your funeral home regularly serves.

There is no requirement to advertise across the whole directory, and there is no long-term contract. You can choose the most relevant pages and cancel whenever you wish.

Building a genuinely useful resource

Crematoria.uk continues to grow as I add new locations and improve existing guides.

My long-term goal is to build one of the UK’s most useful independent resources for people researching crematoriums, cremation services and the practical decisions surrounding a funeral.

For families, that means clear and respectful information. For funeral directors, it offers focused access to a genuinely relevant local audience. For me, it means continuing to build a resource grounded in practical experience and a real understanding of the profession.

Thank you for visiting.
