Southampton Crematorium

Why choose Southampton Crematorium?

Southampton Crematorium is a well-established municipal crematorium operated by Southampton City Council.

It serves families from across Southampton and the wider Hampshire area. Set within peaceful, landscaped grounds, the crematorium offers a calm and dignified setting for funeral services, remembrance, and quiet reflection.

The location combines accessible facilities with carefully maintained gardens, allowing families and visitors to feel supported at every stage of the farewell process.

Chapel Facilities

The Crematorium provides two chapels, each designed to suit different service sizes and preferences.

West Chapel

  • Larger chapel suitable for higher attendance services

  • Flexible seating layout

  • Music system to support personal tributes

East Chapel

  • More intimate chapel for smaller gatherings

  • Peaceful and welcoming interior

  • Suitable for shorter or quieter services

Both chapels are fully accessible and equipped to support a wide range of service styles, including religious, non-religious, and personalised ceremonies.

Your funeral director will be able to advise you of the options regarding full or direct cremation services.

Gardens of Remembrance

The Gardens of Remembrance are an important feature of the Crematorium. The grounds include mature trees, lawns, and quiet areas designed for peaceful visits throughout the year.

Families may choose from a range of memorial options, and visitors are welcome to spend time in the gardens during opening hours.

A Book of Remembrance Room is also available for those wishing to view or arrange memorial entries.

Parking is Free at Southampton Crematorium

  • Free on-site parking is available for funeral services and visitors

  • Parking areas are located close to both chapels

  • Step-free access is provided throughout the site

  • Toilets and seating areas are available for visitor comfort

  • The location is hilly in places which provides a challenge to less mobile visitors

The crematorium is easily reached from central Southampton and surrounding areas, making it convenient for both local and visiting mourners.
